Campogrande (Elio Altare/Antonio Bonanni)

Bosco, Vermentino and Albarola from the exceptionally steep terraces on the sea. A UNESCO World Heritage site, part of the proceeds from Campogrande go to support the only remaining school in the area that teaches traditional cultivation and the stone work needed to maintain the “mortar free” sandstone walls.

The biggest vineyard gave the name to the winery. Campogrande, or “cianun” in dialetct, means “big field” and it really seems big compared to the small vineyards that are typical for the Cinque Terre. The vineyard was abandoned and covered with forest before being cleared and replanted in rows in 2005.

Campogrande is situated in the highest part of the hill called Serra.
