Txakolina Uriondo is a small family winery founded in 1987 located in the D.O. of Bizkaiko Txakolina. The small, 2.5-hectare vineyard is situated at an altitude of 175 meters with a southeasterly exposure. The soil of this vineyard, heavily influenced by the Atlantic climate, is predominantly a clay and sand mixture allowing for a good retention of nutrients. The vineyard is comprised of the local grapes Hondarribi Zurri, Mune Mahatsa and Txori Mahatsa. In the winery, only indigenous yeast is used to initiate fermentation. With the exception of the Txori Mahatsa, the grapes are fermented in stainless steel tanks. The Txori Mahatsa is barrel fermented separately in American oak. Learn more.
